Chavand Fort, also called Prasannagad, is a Sahyadri hill fort near Junnar (Pune district, Maharashtra). It’s a short, scenic trek known for its big panoramic views over the Junnar region and the surrounding fort belt. On the fort-top you’ll find ruins of old structures, a main gateway (Mahadarwaja) remains, rock-cut water cisterns, and a small Chamunda Devi shrine. The climb is usually easy to moderate (short but a bit steep in parts), making it a popular half-day / one-day outing, especially in monsoon and winter for greenery and clear views.
Big panoramic views of the Junnar region and surrounding Sahyadris Mahadarwaja (main gateway) ruins — classic fort entrance remains Rock-cut water cisterns/tanks on the fort-top (great to show fort engineering) Chamunda Devi shrine on the fort Compact fort-top walk — you can cover key points without a long summit trail Great monsoon greenery + winter clarity (best seasons for the visit) Often combined with nearby Kukdeshwar Temple as a one-day plan
